1. What’s the difference between 2UZ-FE 4.7L vs 3UR-FE 5.7L?
2UZ-FE = 2001-2007, timing belt, cast iron block, 240-282 HP. 3UR-FE = 2008-2022, timing chain, aluminum block, 381 HP. 3UR-FE is 40% more powerful and no belt to change. Not interchangeable without major mods.
2. Will a JDM 3UR-FE fit my US Sequoia?
Yes. JDM long block is identical. You swap your US intake manifold, sensors, wiring, and emissions parts to stay EPA legal. We include JDM-to-USDM swap guide. Not CARB approved for CA unless original emissions retained.
3. My Sequoia is 2010 with 4.6L 1UR-FE. Can I upgrade to 5.7L?
Yes, but not simple. Requires ECU, harness, trans tuning, mounts. We recommend direct 1UR-FE replacement. We stock those too – $3,500-$5,200.
4. What kills Sequoia engines?
2UZ-FE: Timing belt break from neglect. 3UR-FE: Water pump failure + cam tower oil leaks causing overheat. V35A-FTS: Too new, but watch turbos. Oil changes every 5k prevent 95% of failures.
